Rebecca Hughes Tran - San Jose Divorce Lawyer

The Law Office of Rebecca Tran specializes in family law cases in Santa Clara County. Law partners Ann Wise and Rebecca Tran have more than 30 years of combined practice. The firm handles divorce, legal separation, custody and visitation, spousal support, child support and complex property division cases.

Rebecca and Ann develop a strategy for each case and are available for our clients. Our experience with the family law process allows us to handle cases efficiently and decisively, keeping costs to a minimum. The firm uses the latest technology and can handle even the most document-intensive cases effectively, reducing the cost of the case.

The firm represents clients in both contested divorce and mediated divorce. A divorce is contested when the issues are tried in court. The spouses in a mediated divorce jointly hire Ann or Rebecca as the sole lawyer to assist them in understanding the law, filing all necessary papers, negotiating and drafting an agreement without bringing issues to the court. This is generally the most cost-effective way to obtain a divorce. We approach cases with the goal of keeping clients out of court. However, if a dispute cannot be resolved, we provide strong and effective representation in court.

Our entire team is devoted to each client's family law case. Family law clients know that Ann or Rebecca will be the attorney working on the case and appearing for them in Court as opposed to having an inexperienced lawyer doing the work.

The office serves Santa Clara County, including Palo Alto, Los Altos, San Jose, Los Gatos, Mountain View, Saratoga, Monte Sereno, Santa Clara, Campbell, Milpitas, Gilroy, Morgan Hill, Cupertino and Sunnyvale.

Rebecca Tran is a certified family law specialist, certified by the State Bar of California. Rebecca served for two years on the Santa Clara County Bar Association Judiciary Committee, which evaluates judicial candidates at the request of the California governor. She is a graduate of Smith College and the University of California, Davis, School of Law.

Rebecca is also a member of the Vietnamese American Bar Association of Northern California and a volunteer for Maitri. She served for two years on the Board of Managers of the YMCA of Santa Clara Valley, Central Branch and the Santa Clara County Women Lawyers Committee. Before opening her own practice she spent six years at the firm McManis Faulkner where she was lead associate attorney on a number of high-asset divorce cases. Before becoming a lawyer she was a reporter for the Gilroy Dispatch.

Ann Wise is a family law attorney who graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1996. She graduated from UCSD with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Ann is a member of the State Bar of California and the Santa Clara County Bar Association, where she was a member of the Family Law Executive Committee, past co-chair of the Family Law section's education committee and served on the San Jose Regional Standing Committee, the body assessing and commenting on pending family law legislation for the State's Family Law Executive Committee. Before making the transition to family law in 2005, Ann practiced in a variety of areas of law, including two years at Hopkins & Carley in their corporate/mergers and acquisition department, and several years working her way up to general counsel for a medical products company.

Rebecca and Ann both serve as Judge Pro Tem in Superior Court at mandatory settlement conferences.
